About the Event
This four week workshop will focus on the basics of zinc plate etching and copper sulphate. Students will learn how to prepare plates, use a hard ground to make a line etching, apply an aquatint to develop a range of tones in their prints, use chine colle to add colour and soft ground to add texture.
Dates: Thursdays 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd July 2021 9:30am to 12:30am.
Beginners welcome but this is also a chance to explore new techniques.
Etching is a rich medium where an image is scratched, drawn or painted onto a metal plate and the image etched into the plate. A range of marks can be created and, after etching, ink is applied to the plate. A print is created by placing dampened paper onto the plate and passing both through a press.
