About the Event

If you'd like to explore your creative side and learn new textile techniques then these workshops, supported by Made.In.Newcastle and Curious Legends, are for you. 

These workshops are aimed at beginners and participants can chose between either wet felting or shibori.  Just select the relevant ticket below. Please note that these workshops are being sponsored by Made.In.Newcastle and Curious Legends, with the aim of enabling as many people  as poosible the experience of learning a new techniqe - which means you can attend only one of these sponsored classes.

9:30am Shibori and indigo dyeing to create scarves, fabric for cushions or napkins

OR

1:30pm Wet felting to create a unique fabric to make a bag, placemat, bookmarks, cover a book or other art project.

These workshops are a great opportunity to enjoy handmade processes, have fun learning how to continue these traditional crafts and meet like minded people.

Price includes:

Two and half hour face to face class at The Arts Emporium in New Lambton, all materials and tools, tea and coffee.

COVID:

All classes will be run in accordance with NSW guidelines in place at the time - https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/freedoms-for-fully-vaccinated-people. Therefore, attendees are required to be double vaccinated to attend.

About your tutor:

Amanda Donohue studied printmaking at Sydney College of the Arts graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours). She also has a Graduate Certificate in Cross Disciplinary Art & Design from the College of Fine Arts (UNSW) where she studied textiles. Amanda has been a practicing artist for over twenty years, has been teaching for about 10 years in the Hunter area and exhibits regularly.  See more about Amanda at www.amandadonohue.org
