About the Event

If you'd like to explore your creative side and learn how to create your own unique prints and textiles then these workshops are for you. All materials are provided each week so there's no need to source equipment to try a new technique. Beginners are welcome and each week we will cover a new process - for example original prints, indigo scarves and felted bowls

Individual classes cost $60 per week including all materials, but you can book blocks of classes to receive a discounted price.  

Course overview:

29 Oct - Felting - wet felt a 3D object such as a tea cosy cover, bowl or small bag. Some experience advised.

12 Nov - Shibori and indigo dyeing to create scarves, fabric for cushions or napkins

26 Nov - Drypoint printing part 1 – design your intaglio print, scribe your plate and print it using a press

3 Dec - Drypoint printing part 2 – introducing colour with chine colle

10 Dec - Drypoint printing part 3 – stencils and colour roll

These workshops are a great opportunity to enjoy handmade processes and have fun learning how to continue these traditional crafts.

Price includes:

Three hour face to face class at The Arts Emporium in New Lambton, all materials and tools, tea and coffee.

COVID:

All classes will be run in accordance with NSW guidelines in place at the time - https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/freedoms-for-fully-vaccinated-people. Therefore, attendees are required to be double vaccinated to attend.

About your tutor:

Amanda Donohue studied printmaking at Sydney College of the Arts graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours). She also has a Graduate Certificate in Cross Disciplinary Art & Design from the College of Fine Arts (UNSW) where she studied textiles. Amanda has been a practicing artist for over twenty years, has been teaching for about 10 years in the Hunter area and exhibits regularly.  See more about Amanda at www.amandadonohue.org
