About the Event

Textile Tasters is a great way to find out about new techniques. These are small workshops designed to stimulate your senses over four separate 2.5 hours sessions. You can do one or book up for all of them: wet felting, fabric printing, sashiko stitch and shibori.

$10.00 per session materials included. You can also purchase a yummy lunch for $5 at the Hub to keep you going.

You will learn about each technique and, depending on the session, how they can be used for making bags, eye glass cases, bowls, coasters, hangings.

Workshops are all held at Toronto Centenary Hub, parking is available.

These 2.5 hour workshops are a great opportunity to enjoy handmade processes and have fun learning how to continue these traditional crafts.

Tickets are supported by Lake Macquarie City Council and include:

2.5 hour face to face workshop

All materials and use of necessary tools and equipment.

A light lunch will be available for purchase for $5 each day.

About your tutors:

Felicity Chadwick is a fashion, design and textiles teacher with 30+ years teaching experience. She has taught for TAFENSW as well as for The Abu Dhabi Higher Colleges of Technology in the United Arab Emirates.

Along with Fashion qualifications she holds a Masters in Cross Disciplinary Art and Design from the College of Fine Arts, UNSW.

Amanda Donohue studied printmaking at Sydney College of the Arts graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours). She also has a Graduate Certificate in Cross Disciplinary Art & Design from the College of Fine Arts (UNSW). Amanda has been a printmaker for over twenty years and a member of the Newcastle Printmakers Workshop for eight years.  See more about Amanda at www.amandadonohue.org.
